Our Story

Pinnacle Recovery was founded in 2015 by industry professionals with decades of combined experience.

Our goal was—and is—simple: provide the tools and treatments our clients need to heal.

With each person who walks through our doors, we commit to understanding their story and where they came from. And with a personalized treatment program at Pinnacle, we map out the steps to a brighter future.

Our values are expressed in our custom-built facility in beautiful Utah that is both intimate and spacious. At Pinnacle Recovery, we didn’t cut corners with our high-end center. And we won’t cut corners with our clients’ recovery.

Our Approach

Treatment plans have never been “one-size-fits-all.” Just as each person is unique, so is their journey toward healing.

Pinnacle provides each client with a personalized plan of combined therapies and counseling. This includes a full psychiatric evaluation. Each individual is guided by a dedicated case manager, helping them to become healthy in mind, body, and spirit.

Clinical and holistic treatments are the two pillars of what we do. Moreover, we are Joint Commission Accredited, meaning that we meet the highest standards. In treatments, medical protocols, and overall excellence, quality is our priority.

With sustainable, long-term recovery in mind, Pinnacle walks with each client every step of the way.

With more than 20 years of experience working in the field, Mary Kay brings great expertise to Pinnacle Recovery Center. Over the years, she has played an instrumental role in developing and expanding many successful treatment facilities.  Early in her career, she founded an adolescent and young adult substance use program with a sincere desire to assist others in healing from trauma and addiction. With her passion to further her knowledge and gain more understanding in all levels of care, she went on to be part of the executive team at an inpatient hospital that provided both mental health and substance use services. As part of the executive team, she assisted in creating, opening and growing the many different programs offered. Mary Kay enjoys dedicating her free time to working with nonprofit organizations in educating our local communities on suicide awareness and the epidemic we are facing with substance use issues. Dr. Heather Wark grew up in Nevada and then obtained a Bachelors’s in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She spent several years traveling and working around the globe, then completed a combined M.D.-Ph.D. program at the University of Utah where she specialized in neuroscience and mental health. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Utah and is dedicated to working in addiction medicine. Her psychiatry practice is unique, in that she works toward whole-health treatment plans for each client individually. When possible, she will work with you to minimize medications at the earliest and safest opportunity. She will also spend time teaching you about medications to treat addiction. Most people with addiction do not know about the available medications to help assist them with recovery (called Medication-Assisted Treatment or MAT). Dr. Wark assures that all of the people who come to Pinnacle are taught about their options, and she will work with you to decide if MAT is appropriate to help with your recovery.

Brook earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Utah. She believes in meeting each client where they’re at and tailoring a treatment plan to satisfy their individual desires, hopes, and dreams. To achieve this she uses a mindfulness-based approach that guides the clients to understand themselves better while challenging them to face the discomfort of bravely taking steps towards creating meaning and wellness in their life. She is comfortable working with many modalities including ACT, DBT, CBT, 12-step, and is trained in EMDR. She likes to have fun and promises that treatment doesn’t have to feel like a burden but can be a surprising journey towards self-discovery.
